You may have seen micro size radio control submarine, or even bought one for youself already. It is pretty exciting to see the submarine diving down the fish tank or outdoor use. But do you realize that you will have to constantly pressing the "Dive" button, in order to keep the subarmine sails under the water.
Now the question is, it is quite difficult to sail the subarine, meanwhile flicking the throttle, and direction stick. Trumpeter has finally, come up with a solution to make the submarine perform more realistically. Instead of putting a built in motor to dive the submarine, the trumpter version of submarine has a ballast tank, which can absorb or release water by pressing a simple switch. That's known as the static diving system, which is also the magic behind an acutal submarine.
When water fills the ballast tank, (The very tiny chamber locating inside the submarine), the combination of water (filled inside the ballast tank) + the plastic material from the submarine itself, is more denser than the surrounding water, and so the submarien sinks.
Vice versa, when water is relased from the ballast tank, the combination of water, (now released from the ballast tank, so it's empty) + the plastic material fro the submarine itself, is less denser than the surroudning water, and so the submarine floats.
Sounds like physics 101? In additional to that, the trumpeter submarine is capable to rotate 360 degrees. When we say "Rotate", we mean "ROTATE", not turning. We see a lot of misleading advertisement in eBay, indicates that their version of submarine can rotate.
Problem is, of those submarine that you have seen. They are equipped with dual drive motor system. Their submarine turns when either side of the propeller shuts. They can still turn, but in a much larger radius, and that's no good for Fish tank.
Speaking of appearance, you can give 100% confident to the quality and finishing by Trumpeter. They are known for producing high quality static models. The paint job is probably one of the best you can find in the market.
WATCH OUT of those cheaply build submarine in the market. We have seen cases with broken submarine body, cracks all over the places, lubrication oils leaking, NOW that's the pollution to your fish tank.
